Blogging. It’s a hell of a drug. I’ve taken up blogging at tumblr.com and though I love love Love it over there, I recently found myself missing my old blogs. We shared so many memories…I read my old livejoural and found myself redrawn into the life that I lived from 2000 to 2005. I came back to my blogger for a little reminiscing and then I found my way back to you: my old friend WordPress. Oh, the times we had. I have never been more proud in my life.

That is without a doubt my most overused line of the night but every time I say it, scream it, think it, write it down, it remains true. I have made no secret of my excitement at the prospect of an Obama presidency but somewhere in the back of my mind, it remained a bit of an idealist dream.

We have a black man in the white house. America, a country that seems to hold so tightly to its divisions, has elected a black man. A country that just 40 years ago, lived by the rules of a man named Jim Crow. Right now, we are moving up and forward. We’ve overwhelmingly as a nation decided that we’re ready for a change.

338 electoral votes and 51% of the popular vote, much of them coming from 3 states in which I have striven to make a difference in in the past 4 years–Virginia, Ohio and Florida have all turned blue. Virginia is a state that has not been carried the Democratic candidate since 1967.

I am energized like never before but I have class in the morning.

So I’m currently sitting next to Captain Lame-o aka LoPro. He’s come back to Florida to spread his wackness all up and down the the East Coast. I had a really good line next, but it pertained to is rampant whoriness so he made me delete it. Call me if you want te full story.

Hey dudes and dudettes! I hope I still have some readers out there because I’m jumping back on this blogging business. I guess I can still blog regardless of whether anyone is reading it (kinda of that “if a tree falls in the woods…” deal) but I’d dig it if someone out there was benefiting from my genius. So go tell your friends. Kerri’s back.

I’ve been living in Florida for almost a full calendar year. Crazy, right? Time flies in an almost tangible way for me…every month is a new class and a new skill. I’ve gone through html and css based web design, a bit of flash design, knocked out a month in a two month track of 3D and next month, we’ll be tackling PHP. Craaazzy!

I think I’ve found my design direction….wooo! Web design is where I think my head is at. I’ve made a couple of website for class: Sari, a fictional wine barand last month, I began a project for my mother in flash. I’m working on revamping both of these sites and using these skills to create a real, active flash site for my moter and her business. I’m telling you kids, web is where the power is.

On a personal note, Jams and I have been together for almost 6 months. Sweet! We’re a cool team and I love him dearly. LoPro has moved in as my roomie and fortunately, it’s all working pretty well.

Whew, I need to get my blogging stamina up. I’m tired already.

When I met last month with Cory Booker, the mayor of Newark who at 39 is already something of a national sensation, he told me that he had just finished reading, belatedly, Obama’s memoir “Dreams From My Father.” He said passages about Obama’s youth in Hawaii had reminded him of his own experience with subtle racism in the affluent, mostly white suburb of Harrington Park, N.J. “You know, what it’s like growing up every single day and having people ask to touch your hair because they’ve never seen hair like that,” Booker said. “To have the entire class laugh and giggle when somebody pronounces ‘Niger’ as ‘nigger.’ The constant bombardment of that kind of thing really affects your spirit, and it’s every single day. Like when people want to come back from a vacation and compare their tan to yours and joke about being black.”

wooooooooh! I’m dancing and flying off the sky. I was out all night and the night is such a liberating experience and I am amazed that i have not fractured something. (like my hip, for instance.) My ankle is swollen and it is Piano Man’s fault. He spun around the floor.
